2022 Spring Bears

Hey all,

I wanted to update you on my wife's bear tag. She hunted for four days and decided that she wanted to go back home because she missed the grandkids. I'm hoping to talk her into going back out to chase a particular bear that was hitting the bait. We'll see what she decides. Here are a few pics of the bear that we liked.

Went to bait moving barrel around, finishing up turned around, a hell of a bear circling no fear. I have never seen that before in the lower 48. No bow in hands. Came back that night to sit, he was back earlier. Hopefully did t run him off, high noon he must have been bedded just off the bait and came in to see who was making the noise. Wow, what a bear. Looks like he’s 3 feet across.

I feel like we're strangely short on bear action...maybe the rain slowed down the grind, the hammering, the stone glacier boyz savage access. With the rain on snow I am hoping that my additional winter pounds are adequate to hold my feet to the bottom of the creek crossings this week.

Crawled into the stand about 430 tonight and there was a small black in already. At 545 I looked up from hunt talk to see this big guy circling the bait. He got downwind if the barrel and turned and I threaded the needle. I wasn’t sure if he was going to come in or bugger off so I took my chance. He made a dash and all went silent. Took me awhile to find him as there was no blood trail what so ever. Quickly scored his skull before I put him in the freezer he went 19.25-19.5. I thought the crease would have pushed him over 20 but oh well he will make a great rug
