Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

2021 will be a traveling season for SFC B and CPO!!!

CPO and I were on different tracts of land yesterday but had similar experiences. Saw several 🦌.... none were shooters. Bunch of does and a couple of spikes except for a young 8 that literally jogged through the edge of my area. Dinner and drinks with the families last night.

Now we are out again. Similar weather to yesterday... maybe a lil less wind. Shooting is quite a bit slower this morning......we'll see

The G Spot lived up to its billing. After an event less midday that was cold and clear that marsh we were sitting on suddenly popped to life at 1430. At 150 yards 3 smaller bucks snuck out of the pines. The biggest immediately went backin the 🌳. I picked the next one and Simo dropped his second buck in 2 shots. :) 😀 About 20 minutes later, as I get down and go lay hands on my deer "BANG" CPO let's lead fly!! Unbeknownst to me another 🦌 showed itself 50 yds above me. :) 😀 As a bonus they both dropped on ATV trails!!

One detail I forgot to mention.....
As we packed up the 6x6 to ride ton the far end of the property where we walked in at, our buddy Kevin (his spot) reminded CPO to sling his rifle that was sitting loose in the bed of the 6x6. CPO was driving and before I could stop him he gooseed the accelerator.......CLACK....CLACK....CLACK......his Browning with a Zeiss on it hits the CONCRETE. I almost threw up. Sunrise revealed some healthy scratches but no structural damage. From the story you have seen that joker even held zero. He must have been living right. 😉

Ughhh 🤢🤮... see I told him that is why my rifles don't have pretty wood and blueing.

BONUS COVERAGE: After tagging out Monday, Tuesday was a "Wisconsin" day. Started out with sunrise over Lake Michigan at my buddy's house before breakfast at a local Greek diner. Then we head to Hemmings cheese factory and market. Got curds so fresh they were still warm. Got an entire grocery bag full of cheese. From there we made a quick stop by my buddy s BILs deer camp where we had a mid morning Busch and chewed the fat with the camps old timer (+- 85yo). Back in the car for a short ride to the farm where my buddy gets all of his cold smoked products. From there we headed toward Green Bay. While neither CPO or I are Packer fans (my boy IS) , who doesn't want to see the Frozen Tundra? It did not disappoint. From the monstrous, largest in the NFL pro shop.....to the open daily restaurant and pub out is beautiful. I took the tour and it was 20 well spent. The night ended with a chili dinner and some beer. ON Wisconsin!!

BTW, the Woodson addition to the ring of honor just went up THAT day and is actually being unveiled this weekend!

Congrats on a great hunt. What town were you hunting near? Somewhere in Sheboygan County it would appear.

The metal type trusses (lack of better description) over the Packer field... are those some form of device to paint the lines, names, etc?

Thanks for sharing and grats!

Guess I'm spoiled as all of this is in my backyard :) including the deer hunt part!

Those jokers are grow lights!!! The field is natural grass, is HEATED from underneath by a buried radiator type system and can keep growing even in the winter!! When they renovated the stadium they brought in soccer pitch architects from the Netherlands to build the actual field.

Here is another thing to love about the Midwest..... and a thing that DOES peave me about CO. How is it I can get a deer processed (cut and wrapped with grind) for $80 in Wisconsin and the same thing here would cost me $230+ FFS......

Glad I have experience doing it myself!
