10 ply tires

I wish we got the tire mile that some of you guys get. With our granite chip seal roads. I get around 12-14 k on any tire I run on my f350 diesel. My wife's SUV's have never seen much over 20k on any tire.

You might look at Mastercraft. I think they are made by Cooper.

They had us running Mastercraft at work for a long time. I'll swear they lose a 1/8" of tread just sitting in the parking lot overnight. I got so sick of seeing that word "Mastercraft" right in front of my face all the time as I tried to wrestle lug nuts off wheels in the pouring rain, I just wanted to build a big fire and burn every last one of them.

I know a lot of people in here are especially passionate about tires, might as well have asked a caliber question. Anyway, strictly anecdotal, but I’ve been through a few pairs on Falkens on a light duty pickup and the only issue I had was a slight sidewall flapper when I was hot-dogging around, showing off like an idiot. It held air to get me home and they covered it under warranty. The truck probably sees more rocks and dirt than pavement.

I'm on my 3rd set of BF Goodrich KO2s.

Not sure about whether or not I'll stick to KO2s or KO3s now that I'm due for a new set...

I have run BF Goodrich for 20 plus years on F 150's always ran E rated 10 plys
When they were hard to get ran the Toyo 10 plys
Currently running I think they are 12 ply toyo on a F250

I have Toyo AT3 Open Country right now. They are great on snow. Decently decent in mud. They are wearing very well. I like them.

The Cooper Stronghold AT tested well in a Tire Rack test. They look like a good tire. A little more aggressive than the Toyo or the Falken Wildpeaks.

Just wondering the average age in this thread. I've not run bias ply tires on a road vehicle since the 80s.
I prefer a D or E rated tire on my vehicles.

If I get 2 years or more on a set I'm happy. Mileage may vary. NM dirt/gravel & paved.
I have not the mileage advertized since I moved here. Roads just eat the tread up.
And no one will replace on a warranty anymore.

The only outfit I have found that will warranty questions asked is Les Schwab but they are holy shit expensive.

Just bought 275/60R20 tires for my truck a little over a week ago. I went with the KO2's. Had them on my previous truck and no complaints. Would have gone with the KO3's except they didn't have them in that size and the 285/60R20's were a lot more expensive.

Got them at Costco. It is a bit ridiculous all the ratings on tires now. Apparently KO2's and most 10 ply tires in that size aren't actually rated to go on a new Ford F150 because the speed rating isn't high enough. How stupid is that, they make LT tires for trucks that aren't actually rated high enough to go on the damn trucks.

I loved the Wildpeak AT3W but they changed the compound to be a little harder in the AT4W version, which I don’t want for snow and ice. I’m going to get some new tires this fall and I’m probably either going with Cooper S/T Maxx or maybe the new Cooper Stronghold.

I always went with 10 ply but I like you couldn’t get the ST Maxx in the size I wanted but I love the tire so went with the 8’s & haven’t had a bit of problems on the very same roads & trails I always drive. Just my 2 cents
