    Brooks talks on his bull

That’s a bit dramatic. Baiting doesn’t guarantee an animal will come to the bait in daylight. This isn’t a classic hunt and wouldn’t be enjoyable for most. But I’d rather a person kill the bull with archery gear than have it die of old age. I’ve whitetail hunted in the burbs and learned to...

Day Trespass fees for turkeys and deer

Sure you can. But it doesn’t change the fact that a stranger is asking to use a firearm on one’s property. That’s a big ask, if you think about it.

    Good/interesting problem to have.

A friend helped me for a couple of days this fall. But most of my elk hunt was solo. I enjoyed the challenge, but certainly more fun with good buddies. A lot more fun to have help when the bull hits the ground. Kill a giant.

I just need a few tips on turkey hunting

Get to a good listening point before daylight. Once he gobbles on the roost, get in as tight as you can without bumping him. I’ll give a very soft tree yelp, then go silent until he flies down.

I just need a few tips on turkey hunting

Never worry about black bears. And never use a flashlight at all. If the fence line doesn’t have much cover, you might want a decoy. The Tom isn’t going to come in if he doesn’t see a turkey where he’s hearing the calling.
