How about a non-res not even being able to draw for Elk or Antelope in CA ? Or a resident from Arky not being able to buy a hunting license in Oklahoma ? Or Oregon's 2% non-res cap on some hunts and 5% on most ? Nevada is very restrictive in the non-resident hunting arena. States do have the...- muskeg

With the current law changes taking place in the Transporter side of things .... I would check and double check to see if the Transporter is doing things leagle. A large Transporter (who worked POW Island) just got indicted. Some of his past hunters have gotten wrapped up it the mess also...- muskeg

It's just plain bad press for hunting ..... it could have and should have been spun into good press (or as good as possible) ..... When Ak changes or make a new reg I don't think they give warning citations for six months !!!! but the might to the VP !!!!- muskeg

I'm sure there are hunts available. Don't think that just because a guide is not booked years in advance it is not a good hunt. An experienced Bear hunter can (and do) have good hunts selfguided in this area. It does take some logisticts planning. Money for transportation. But it is not a...- muskeg

Moosie ........ I think you have your Black Bear stories crossed. There are no Black bears around Sitka. Baranoff has Browns only !!!!! The jumbo Blacks are taken on POW Island, Kuiu, and around Ketch-it-if-you-can.- muskeg

Hunting POW in November????
Don't let me discourage anyone from planning a 'rut' Blacktail hunt. But to buy a $250 Black Bear tag in Nov is something I would think over. But when and if you do get one of those late season Bears they sure have nice hair. That 'rut' hunt is my favorite hunt of all. But I did not learn...- muskeg
