At/in that price range, I'd look at the Alps Outdoorz Commander external frame pack, which can be had for under $150 or so brand new. Don't know how comfortable/durable they are, but at that price point, it may be worth checking out.
This might be the best (humorous) post of 2021, thus far....much to the chagrin of @wllm1313, @JLS, and @Greenhorn, all of whom have made valiant efforts.
I feel you, man. I used to love Windows Movie Maker back in the day. Though I will say I think it depends little bit on your platform. I have a Mac Book and iMovie is great. But, I've also used Power Director and Lightworks. I prefer to use iMovie because it's free and I've gotten to know my way...
Yeah, there is a reason hounds are prohibited in Idaho units with an established grizzly population.
Not a huge fan of hound hunting for bears in general, but in grizz country, I’m outright opposed... agree with @Ben Lamb, it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Don’t hunt them as much as we hunt foxes out here on the east coast. Here is a pic of the last one I killed circa 2015-16 during whitetail season in PA
As far as I know, Kifaru doesn’t have regularly scheduled sales, probably due to their made-to-order model. I have a Reckoning, and absolutely love it. If you need someone to talk you into a Kifaru, PM me.
Kifaru currently offering 20-30% off their tactical frame ($295, marked down from $395)

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to try and address the problems with family ag/ranching to make this industry more sustainable (and profitable) vice government intervention in the ranchers' side hustle?
This would be akin to meddling in the rideshare industry (Uber, Lyft) as a means of...

Agreed. I think it would be helpful for western hunters who, like many in this forum, have equities at stake in multiple states. Having a national platform would allow greater ability to flex from one state to another, or confront challenges (legislative proposals, regulatory changes) in...
It’s probably more appropriate for “us”, the collective, to go the PAC route, given most of the issues of substance to us involve political action and campaigns. Like @Ben Sellers mentioned, I think most of us would be comfortable making monetary contributions that aren’t tax deductible if those...
I have a Jetboil, MSR Whisperlite International, and a Snow Peak LiteMax. Have also done the pop can stove, which was kinda fun to make.
If I’m going deeper and weight is a concern, I bring the Snow Peak (1.9 oz, $59) and a Snow Peak 600ml titanium mug (2.8 oz, $35).
For almost everything...
7900 clients at 6500/ea is $51 million, which is $4M short of the number in the UMontana study. If you use that number ($51m-$55m) and apply it to the 2019 study, which I think would be more appropriate and accurate characterization, then hunting outfitting drops to #10-#11 in nonresident...
The number for just hunting outfitting appears to be around 24% of the total outfitting pot, to the tune of about $55M according to a Univ of Montana study that analyzed data from 2017. Hunting outfitters bring in less money than fishing outfitters, and just a little more than...
If you want to die on the “economics of it” hill, go ahead. But it’s an absurd argument. If you want to make this about generating money for the state’s coffers, why don’t you start with a sales tax or increases in property taxes, as opposed to trying to get an entire demographic of rich folks...
