I'll pass along a trick I found for hunting and taking a shot at somewhat longer distances.
I have a small folding seat from Dunham's, that I strap to my backpack. Doesn't add much weight, but makes it more comfortable for an impromptu sit.
If I spot something far off, I set up the seat, and...
That I'm not sure of.
I know there aren't any where near as many dealers for them here as compared to Hoyt, Bear, PSE, etc ..
Bummer because they do have some interesting features.
Built in carry handle.
Built in hook to hang the bow on a limb while in the stand.
Built in broad head wrench...
@RG300
Just WOW!!!
Flimsy plastic stock in a Leadsled using factory ammo.
The perfect trifecta of inaccuracy.
And I'd love to hear why the 300Win Mag is "less accurate" than 6.5 Manbun or 300 PRC.
I'm still waiting for a "high end" Savage. Lol
I have 2 Savage rifles with low end Vortex optics.
Crossfire II actually.
They have their flaws.
But they do what I want them to do. Namely, shoot game.
Do I have "better" scopes? Yes.
But I have a problem with replacing something that works.
I know I'm late to the party, but I'll put in my 2¢.
While not extremely popular here in the States, a company in Canada makes bows that are really good.
APA Archery.
I bought one of their Viper Air some years ago. Love the thing!
Light weight, short, quiet, and reasonably fast for the 50...
I had gotten a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-12 when they first came out.
It was the SFP model.
And i was pissed!!!
For spending almost double of a Crossfire II, I thought the Crossfire II was the better scope.
Certainly the optics were no better.
A call into Vortex and I got the "did you...
I'm not sure if I should laugh, or be angry about that comment.
To me, there's working guns, and there are collector guns.
Just because they are ugly, doesn't mean that they don't function well.
Some are passed down through the generations. Each scratch and ding tells a story.
I use one on my M1 Carbine.
Came attached to the gun when I bought it.
Mine has the guard on each side of the front post to protect it.
Gotta watch sometimes as if i get in a hurry, I pick up one of the guards, instead of the front sight.
Puts my rounds about 6ft left or right.
I use SSTs for range use.
About half the price of Ballistic Tips and they fly about the same.
I can consistently get smaller groups with the Ballistic Tips though.
Friend hunts with the SST.
While they work, they do more damage closer to the entrance than the Ballistic Tip.
The Ballistic...
The long headspace is there for a reason.
With Roy setting the pressure higher than the other cartridges of the time, he resorted to the old trick of managing the pressure. Increasing freebore.
If you look at the SAAMI drawing of the 284 Win, it also has a long freebore.
This was because it...
Personally, I'd go to a slower burning powder.
Since it's not too likely to find Alliant.
I'd start with 4831(any flavor), Ramshot Hunter, or Magnum, Norma MRP, or Vihtavouri N550, N 560.
@RugerHawg413,
You didn't mention what type of sidearm you were talking about.
For all my semi autos (except for my 1911) I use Urban Carry OWB.
I have a Desantis Yaque slide holster for the 1911.
I also have a Desantis for my Taurus revolver in 38Spcl.
My Ruger Security Six I usually...
So far with my 89' W100 I've put on Rancho shocks all the way around.
Just like with my old Toyota Hilux, they made a huge difference!
Now if I could find a bed support.
Got one rotted out.
I can find them all day long for Ford or Chevy. But not the old Dodge.
@popeyoung12,
Do yourself a favor and ditch the sled!!
It does nothing but induce bad shooting habits!
To the OP,
I have (2) 25-06 rifles. Both are Rugers.
One is a 77 MKII and the other is a #1.
I keep the brass/cartridges separate, even though I am shooting the same bullet and powder...
