i shot this buck in oregon in 93 the next year i shot a spike elk and got less meat out of the 18moth old elk than this buck. i'll guess about 350lbs without guts hanging in the photo
i awoke at 3:11 this morning with this topic on my mind. there are a lot of pressures on our sport of hunting. deterating habitat, urban growth and all it brings, massive money donations to antihunting groups, massive money donations to antihabitat improvement groups, goverment red tape designed...
i saw one on the north fork of the owyhee at juniper creek. where there are no wolves. 15 minutes later i saw a canada lynx from the same glassing spot. there are no canada lynx there either.

i know a little about it. traditional bow tag or rifle. rifle tag took 7 plus points last year, looks like everyone that applied with 8 points drew the tag in 2005. and 1 nonresident tag was drawn with 3 people with 10 points applying.
ten days till the result cards come in the mail for oregon, with luck i'll be hunting the high cascade wilderness tag. with exceptional luck i'll be in the east whitehorse unit. no luck puts me hunting blacktails on the north umpqua watershed
