New "Unleaded" Bullet by Nosler

Looks a whole lot like the old Barnes with a plastic tip. Too bad they didn't learn from the lessons Barnes did and put some relief grooves in them. I may have to try some out when they come in the calibers/weights that I prefer.

PS- The non-leaded movement will start gaining lots of momentum I think. I haven't read the article, but was told there's an article in one of the wildlife journals looking at the relationship between dead eagles and lead in dead prairie dogs.

But supposedly there is something about the Nosler bullet that enables it to have no need for the grooves, and it therefore has a much higher ballistic coefficient than the the equivalent Barnes TSX.

The E-Tip’s® proven patent pending alloy provides less fouling, while exhibiting superior accuracy and consistent performance over traditional pure copper designs. In the lead free world, the E-Tip® stands alone.

I was going to start working up loads with the Barnes TSX in my 30-06, but I just may try the Nosler first, that is if I can get a hold of any. (probably not soon enough)

1 Pointer, I agree with you that there is going to be a non-lead movment to contend with shortly. We have the same statistics being shown to us out here that state "hunters may be causing a certain number of condors to be poisoned each year" by leaving carcasses with bullets in them fot the birds to eat.
I'm willing to listen to listen to facts and opinions when the data is complete and discloses every option -instead of cherrypicking and blaming the entire situation on "hunters."
If it's made by Nosler it should be accurate.

Does it still have the length issues that the Barnes bullets have? I'll agree that I'm still satisfied with the performance I get shooting some darn good lead bullets. As for condors, are they rare because of humans, rare because they never existed in large numbers, or just on there way out because they have failed at evolution in the past few centuries?

they say that copying is the best flattery around. I wondered how long it would take someone to see just how good the TSXs really are. I see no need to switch from the best already. HAPPY HUNTING

I don't think that the competition is going to keep prices down. The cost of copper in general is driving the cost up. To me it is just an attempt to have something as good as Barnes. Now I am not bashing nosler as I use all nosler for my varminting. I think they have great bullets but I prefer TSXs for my medium to large game. Just my preference. HAPPY HUNTING

Good point, Tone. It's the old "endangered species" panic being applied again. I've seen a couple of condors before, and they really do look and act like flying dinosaurs... nearly the bottom rung of the evolutionary ladder.
I was also wondering about how the new Nosler compares with the Barnes as far as length goes.
