I would like to take my daughters on a DYI spring turkey hunt. I would be coming from Louisiana so Ok,Kansas, or Nebraska maybe? I deer hunt in Western Kansas which would be turkey area 4 which non residence can't hunt so I need some suggestions. If any of you get drawn for area 4 let me know and I can put you on some birds.

One thing to remember about Non-residents hunting in Kansas.....no age restrictions, but Hunters Safety is mandatory for all, and they should check before issuing a license. (Residents of a certain age need to have taken HS, but are not required to show evidence everytime they purchase a license or tag)

Hunter's Ed

They both have their cards. We teach Hunter's Ed every year at our church and have a big wildgame dinner. They have both helped me put it on for 5 years since one was 8 and the other was 7. I think by now they can teach the class. I do appreciate the heads up as Louisiana and the surrounding states don't have age limits on hunting and only require youth to have the card if they are hunting without an adult. Thanks again.

Oklahoma has some birds on public land. Info on the individual WMA's and maps.

Oklahoma also has some Spring youth turkey hunts on a draw system as part of the controlled hunts program which also includes antelope, deer, elk.

Nebraska has lots of birds. This year is no exception, I dodge turkeys in the road almost on a daily basis. The best part about Nebraksa youth turky hunting is the tag only costs $5 each and you can kill two turkys per tag in the fall and one in the spring. Limit is 4 in the fall and 3 in the spring. All the youth NR tags are cheap including deer and antelope.
