Are there any places in your state that you can pickup large game offroad, without breaking any laws. [don`t include private property] just curious?

CJ,

ACtually, in Idaho there are lots of places, as we have not got all the agencies to Close everything, and then open as designated. Right now, we have a lot of Everything Open, and closed as designated.

So there is much land that is not restricted, yet, but we are working on getting it restricted, in order to improve hunting.

Thanks thats fair enough...so does that mean you can? [retrieve offroad] in some places? you tell me . i never tell other guys what their state allows [wouldn`t be prudent] thats why i`m asking, where in the hell is that Moosie? he would know [hunting] i have to go the wife awaits me [damn she is hot] bye bye for now CJ a.k.a. Mr Lucky . [ Gunner you have a good evening, truly CJ]

I don't know of any public lands in Washington on which driving off roads is allowed for any reason. But then we have very little BLM land, and the BLM land that I know of has only designated roads/trails open for motorized vehicles. Now in Oregon, in the unit my brother and I will be hunting mulies in two weeks, I stopped in the BLM office down there when we were scouting in July, and the guy there told me motorized vehicles could go anywhere, didn't have to be for retrieval of game, there simply are no restrictions, other than you are not allowed to damage habitat.

As gunner pointed out ,In Idaho we do have area's that are open for offroad retrieval as well as areas that are open for off road travel.

Notice I didn't say I think it's a good idea to be riding off road or trail ,only that it is legal in some area right now!!!!!!!!!

Nut,how far do you usually have to drag ?
and how much environmental damage are you doing ?
Why dont you just make viperess carry it out for you LOL

We usually quarter it and use the pack frame's to get it to a road then get the truck or ATV to haul it back to camp.

The good thing for Nut is he doesn`t have to drag out an elk. It sure is nice when you can drive safely/legally to an elk.

CJ, I would happily try to drag out a elk I killed anytime. ;)

EG.. Go back and look again..

R12-4-110, G. "A person may utilize a vehicle on or off a road to pick up a legally killed big game animals."

Danr,

Do you seriously beleive that you can use a vehicle off road to pick up a legally killed big game animal, anywhere in Arizona????

I thought you had stayed out of the other thread because you were smarter than the other AZ boys....

R12-4-110, G only applies to items in R12-4-110

And R-12-4-110 only deals with STATE TRUST LANDS.

You have no authority under R12-4-110, G to travel off road on Federal, Private, Reservation lands. Nor State lands where otherwise restricted.

Gunner if i had a dollar for every time you posted a reg. that says you can`t go offroad [i`d be rich] we already know those regs, Why don`t you just look at Danr`s post, its true and its accurate and so is [A.R.S. 17-454 and 455] it clearly states under "EXCEPTIONS'. I don`t think we can beat this thing too much more can we? Take it over to the ATV thread [maybee we can beat your [Phil Forman fight]

EG, I think you twist the truth again. You keep stating EVERYWHERE, and others keep saying it can be done in places....... From my readings, cross country travel for game retrieval is legal in some places, and illegal in others.

"No person shall drive a motor operated vehicle cross-country on public or private lands where such cross-country driving is prohibited by rule or regulation or, in the case of private lands, by proper posting."

"A person may utilize a vehicle on or off a road to pick up a legally killed big game animals."

Seems clear to me..

Just spent about $20.00 for colored travel plan maps for this hunting season, and to think, them black and white ones used to be free.....

It must be that the Fat-Assed crowd couldn't figure out by using the B&W (as evidenced by the increasing calls to further restrict ATVs), so they had to move to colored ones.

Kinda like 3rd graders....

The B&W maps haven't been printed here for more then ten years nows. One of the problems around here is that while the travel restrictions changed in some areas, the USFS kept handing out the old B&W travel plans (because they were free and still in stock), but failed to tell paeople that some of the roads were now closed.

Typical entrapment by a Government agency [USFS], one hand doesn`t know what the other is doing. :D
