There is no way that goes through (I hope). I work too hard to have my tax dollars handed over to people who shouldn’t have been illegally crossing the border in the first place. Putting your family in that situation and getting awarded that kind of sum sets the wrong precedent.

Only reason the dept of justice would lose is because they want to. Not a smart move on their part. Hope they wise up.
Just saying that maybe the last administration might have violated a few laws and trampled a few individual rights. You know, just maybe. 🤷‍♂️
Funny thing is that if the government quietly spent $400,000 per case and won every one of them, no one would know or care. Then the WSJ would print an article screaming about the $400,000 and people would be outraged at that.

And the insurance to a killed soldiers family is 400,000. Let that shit sink in. Something has to be done to deter these people from breaking the borders and our nations law. Should have just sent them all back but they protect the children and then that's not right. These attorneys bringing these suits should be disbarred just for being greedy douchebags.

LET'S GO BRANDON!!

I'm guessing those lawyers work for the ACLU. In many cases the current administration is carrying on some of the same policies and the ACLU is suing them. The government breaking laws to deter others from breaking laws seems like a bad idea. Also keep in mind, that people will not be deterred when the option of staying in their home country is death. We can't comprehend that choice.

Solution? Mass incarceration? Death by firing squad? Tar and feather? What is solution to the illegal immigration "problem"?
I'll fall on this sword. . .

An easier path to citizenship (less costly to start, give the honest folks a head start) and an iron fist for illegal crossing (arrest and deport as soon as discovered, forbid from applying legally for 24 months with increase to lifetime if busted again).

There is obviously all sorts of nuance (asylum seekers grace, no welfare for X months or paying taxes whichever comes first, etc.), but this is a hunting forum and I'm tired.
