I’ve gathered enough from what you have posted we won’t see eye to eye. Put a few adults in the room and things could be sorted out quite quickly. That goes for wildlife management as well.
Probably not, but agreeing or disagreeing is not the path to a solution. Discussion of the differences is.

Regarding wildlife mgmt, I don’t look at things solely on how they benefit me, so we might agree on a lot of stuff, just disagree on how likely they are to be accomplished.

SAJ,
The initial intent of asylum sought within the U.S. never envisioned the hundreds of thousands crossing at any area along our border demanding Asylum with Obama, then Trump, and now Biden. Those inside the U.S. had the opportunity to reach out to our USCIS. Those intending to cross at a Port of Entry are able to request asylum to the CBP Officer. And yes, a person fleeing their government persecution and cross at wherever least likely to be captured by their government's henchmen - able to claim asylum to any U.S. Official that intercepts their entry while evading their captures.

This... is not the intent for the U.S. to become a clearing house of the world - this is the new political football!

Our immigration laws need to be overhauled. Returned to the intent without the political game incrementally adding this or that to our immigration laws that are now so convoluted and specifically crafted political power plays!

They see the news... $15 US $ an hour! Minimum wage... Better life in America? Hell ya! Asylum is now the word and it's a mess.
They used to flee from U.S. Law Enforcement - Now? Put's Disneyland lines for favorite rides to shame! Walk TO the U.S> Law Enforcement. Water, food, shelter, $$$, and an Asylum golden ticket.

Just saying that maybe the last administration might have violated a few laws and trampled a few individual rights. You know, just maybe. 🤷‍♂️
Funny thing is that if the government quietly spent $400,000 per case and won every one of them, no one would know or care. Then the WSJ would print an article screaming about the $400,000 and people would be outraged at that.
Maybe but do you have any faith in this administration on fixing anything let alone the mess it has made of the border ? I’m not political however this would be a much easier problem for the US if these people remained south of our boarder. I for one would love to see Joe Biden’s administration work on cities like Baltimore, Chicago and Detroit even Washington DC instead of giving those who broke the law and entered here illegally a pay out!

It’s work for Joe Biden to put his pants on in the morning…I wouldn’t count on him actually getting anything else done.

Well, first I don't think the current mess is this Administrations fault alone. Immigration has been a mess for decades if not longer, and problems have ebbed and flowed like an ocean tide. Politicians like to blame the other side and pretend their solutions work. This administration will do the same. The current problem probably has a lot to do with the cuts in Foreign aid to Central American countries made by the last administration. It makes great headlines to say you are cutting funds to those countries because they won't stop illegal migration, but it just creates more illegal migrants. There has to be some willingness to admit that may not have been a great idea. As taxpayers, I'm not sure which ends up being more expensive to us, paying the aid or dealing with the migrants. Basically, both choices suck. But it does allow politicians plenty of ammo for blaming the other side, which is fuel for the fire.

I'm mostly concerned that politicians can't have a rational discussion on what has worked and what has not. The cynic in me says I'm not sure either side wants to solve the problem (the illegal migrant problem or basically any other problem). I would love to see a third party created that builds from the rationale sides of both parties. I'm getting sick of the fringes dominating the conversations.

To add what I mean by our immigration laws are a convoluted mess...

It basically takes an attorney to complete the documents for the various LEGAL U.S. visas to work in our country.

They need to be brought back to a simplified completion by the NON immigrant.
Companies, large crop growers, etc need a simplified process to sponsor NON immigrants to work in our country LEGALLY.
NON immigrants need a simplified method to change jobs/positions to follow our laws to continue working in our country.
Those NON immigrants ALWAYS have an opportunity to naturalize.

However, Democrats don't want to fix our system. They pander to the world as the political party championing for a "better life" claim asylum and become a USC... why? It's a path to build future voting base.

These people don't know they are able to live and work in the U.S. What they do know from the cronies such as Soros, et al, Claim asylum and his vision is working quite well.
Why fix a broken immigration system if it butters their bread...

It appears the wall would work. They are saying people are walking through the unfinished areas while President Biden is currently building a wall around his beach home. I bet there will be no unfinished areas on that project.

Interesting piece recently from the Atlantic regarding state sponsored immigration, https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2021/10/let-states-sponsor-immigration/619813/

"... June 28, 2007... Immigration was on the floor of the Senate. A bipartisan coalition had revived what was then—and still is—the logical compromise: stricter controls at the borders and at job sites, more legal immigration (especially of skilled workers), and a path to citizenship. Had the compromise passed, “it would have changed the politics,” Jim Kolbe, who was then a House Republican representing an Arizona border district, recently told me. “It would have been seen as putting the immigration issue behind us.”

Instead, the bill failed, badly. A disappointed Mitch McConnell, then the Senate minority leader, said, “I had hoped for a bipartisan accomplishment, and what we got was a bipartisan defeat.”"

There are laws and that seems to be your problem. When a person illegally enters the US they can make a claim they need asylum. Then they get to make that case to a judge, who determines the legitimacy of the claim. The previous admistration took the approach of inflicting emotional trauma by separating kids from parents, assuming that “word would get out” and
deter other people from doing the same. Stupid, of course, because staying meant death, which is why they risked death to get here. The current administration has taken the approach to keep families together but send them back. Equally suspect from legal perspective, but certainly more humane. You can’t just label Dems or Repubs and assign a judgement on policy. It is incredibly complicated. Reforms need to be made but then they argue over who gets credit. This is the problem= the inability to vote for something that is net positive because of the perception you are working with the other side.

I’m afraid we are witnessing the death of democracy.
They aren’t sending them back, hence the incentive to make the trek.
