This is the last day I had to hunt, and got it done. Weight off my back.

Congrats on the turkey! Where I live, you can't hunt turkeys with a rifle. I'm curious how long a shot you took, what kind of load, where you aimed, etc?

I love that I can use a rifle. I hate picking shot out of the breast. It is a 17HMR. I use 17 grain rounds. My shot was only about 60 yards. It was very easy.

Do you try for the head? Sometimes those suckers go a long ways even when hit with a shotgun....

I'm not that great of a shot. I wish.

So, I thought about the fact that when I use a shotgun, I have to wait for the shot to get very clear first. But, with my rifle this bird was only clear enough to not have a bird behind it. Makes shooting much easier.

Where do you aim to make sure they dont run off. Center body by wing?

Yes. I only lost a small but of breast. It's worth it to me. Mrs. Fan doesn't like when I miss a shot gun pellet,.so this works.for me. Also makes longer shots doable.
