Looking at unit 2 antelope in the NE corner of that unit there is some state land.Is this land open to the public for hunting? It is in blue on my BLM land status map.

Best to check ahead of time for state lands...they can be closed for all kinds of reasons by the State Land Board.

Generally they are open assuming a legal access point, but if there is a safety issue, crops on it, etc. etc. they may not be open to hunting.

Rooster...of your looking at those big blocks of state ground in unit 2 they are locked out by private access. If you can find one owner to get you in there it opens up alot of ground. Most is ground that is outfitted. I have hunted up there since 1989 and have found 1 landowner that will allow access. Get the maps and pm me and i will show you a couple spots. I tried to pm you but it must not have went thru.

@Rooster52 and @treedagain, I'm going to be driving up to Unit 2 for general antelope from San Diego. So far I've found a pretty good bit of access and from what I can tell, there are 2 main chunks of BLM and state lands that are contiguous and accessible from county roads.

@treedagain I'd love to hear your thoughts on the unit via PM if you wish. This hunt was supposed to be my "retiring (medical) from the Marine Corps" present to myself, but of course Uncle Sam went and complicated things so I'll probably still be active, just going to burn the leave...

Thank you for your service Sir.
