Well, round 1 is over for elk in Wyoming. Hunted with 4 of my friends and even with the hot dry weather, we did OK going 5/5 with 2 bulls and 3 cows. Saw elk everyday, saw bulls everyday, and we all passed bulls early in the hunt.

About day 6 or 7, I caught this bull feeding in a small opening at 446 yards. I set up a good solid rest with what I had, a spotting scope tripod and my backpack, got settled in and everything seemed plenty solid. Chambered a round in my 7-08 and put the leupold dot on the point of the on-side shoulder and pressed the trigger. Done deal, heard the familiar thump of the bullet. The bull took a couple steps uphill and stopped. Put another round in the chamber and before I could shoot, I saw 4 elk legs in the air and a bit of kicking and dust.

Worked out right fair.

Off to Montana now.

Great bull as usual Buzz. I actually shot a bull this year with the 7-08 140 accubond too. Same experience. Bullet under the hide offside
