I have a question about purchasing additional doe antelope tags. If i'm reading right, WY makes up to 4 additional doe tags available if I draw a type 1 tag. Is that right? If I draw a type 1 tag can I purchase an additional 4 doe tags and harvest up to 5 antelope. I know, harvesting 5 antelope is not a realistic expectation. I'm just wanting to confirm that I am understanding the tags options correctly.

Shooting 5 antelope isn't that difficult getting 4 doe tags is. There is a random draw for doe antelope tags and the odds for any unit with good access is low. Only the tags not snagged in the draw will go to a leftover list where they can be bought. Any tag that can be purchased on the leftover list will be due to extremely difficult public access. So unless you have private access lined up you probably won't be able to "buy" anything worth wild.

You can get up to 2 doe tags in the initial draw then pick up 2 more in the leftover draw if available.
Antelope numbers are way down that is why folks are saying to not use your doe tags.

Look into a reduced price cow elk tag for more meat on your trip.

If you apply type 1 you can opt for doe tags if available. You can also say no to doe tags if not drawn for the type 1. Leftover list for others but most likely wontbe available

If you'll notice in the above chart, the wy antelope population trend started sliding about the time hunting forums started taking off good.

Doe antelope have saved a handful of my hunting seasons from the meatless category. After 22/23 winter, I don't see that hunt happening in the near future, at least where I used to hunt them. Trying to tag out on 5 antelope sounds pretty exhausting. I'd just focus on the Type 1 tag.
