Wordle

So is there a setting for your rules?
No, just for the "hard mode" of Wordle which simply says, if you have a letter that you know is in the word (ie, you got it as green or yellow in the previous guess), you must use it in your next guess. But you can use it at any position, including a position that you know to be wrong.

My rules simply add 1. If you know a letter at a certain place in a word (ie, it was green on your previous guess), you have to use it at that place in your next guess.

2. If you know that a letter is the word, but you don't know where (it was yellow in the previous guess), you cannot use that letter a position you know is wrong.

3. If you know a letter is not in the word (it was grey previously), you cannot use it again at any position.

While these rules make it harder to come up with a viable word, they also ensure that every guess you make is more efficient in getting to the correct answer. Or at least, that's my story. YMMV, but a lot of you probably follows those rules anyway, just as a matter of course.

If I'd been a little smarter this morning, I would have duplicated @Wildabeest at guess n7mber 2 or, seeing his guess at 2, I should have come up with it in my 2nd guess .

No, smarter.

I know your first word, and I would bet $100 that I know your strategy in choosing letters and if I had thought about it, I would have known exactly what your second word was and from that, I would know all letters 2-5 from your second guess. Better deductive reasoning, would have scored a 2 for me today.
