Why ban ATV's?

I never said anyone should police their own, only that the existing laws need to be enforced. Closing land obviously doesn't work unless you have a way of funding enforcement.

Good point Nemont and ringer. I think raising the price of the ORV sticker to $250 annually to fund enforcement is a good idea since the fatassed ATVers don't want to recognize and address the problems.

Ringer- I agree with you on enforcement. However, there still needs to be defined boundaries and restrictions put on the use of atvs. Even if it only stops a few users, it is a good beginning. I would also agree there are some areas there need not be restrictions.

"Maybe outlaw them all together?" Fine with me, but it's not going to happen. Most practical solution is much bigger fines and confiscation of the ATV on the second violation. Anyone who doesn't agree with that isn't serious about solving the problem. The BRC doesn't want tougher laws because they're nothing but a front for the ATV industry. Look at their members and where their funding comes from.

Hmmm, seems all they do is bann em all instead of tryin to reason or limit, i mean be fair to others they good for huntin so i heard, but yeah they made mess, just like the police they go find useless crime instaed of goin for real prob kinda same :D

Matt, we agree. Take away their wheeler and their truck for second violation. Fine the shit out of them for the first. I know a guy in Oregon who was a salmon poaching fool. We used to see him in tidewater all the time and counted the fish he bonked. He was busted and lost a nice sled and a newer truck. Those fish were a little expensive per pound.

No it's not going to happen, just trying to fire up 10 bears. Bigger fines and loss of vehicle might slow down the damage- but first we have to catch them and that means more money for enforcement. Where is that going to come from? Everybody's pockets? In my state they don't need to license ATVs so we'd be hard pressed to levy the money against the people using them.

I think Greenhorn had the best way to fund enforcement.

Make licensing a requirement and have it set at $3-5 hundred per machine a year. That should get some more enforcement on the ground.

Buzz,

I think they should charge by the pound. $0.75 per pound of machine and $2.00 per pound of Fat-Assed rider..... for the registration. No sense penalizing that skinny chick for all the damage done by the Fat-Assed crowd.....
