I prefer local 501c3s that I can see the work being done. Friends of pool 9 on the Upper Miss is doing great things for education, habitat, and access. Our local community foundation is as well.

Not necessarily year end only, but all year it's BHA, California Waterfowl, The Peregrine Fund, RMBS, CAWSF, Golden Gate Salmon Association, RMEF.

Outside annual memberships, I believe the only one I pumped a little extra cash towards was the RMEF.
I don't know the secret to winning raffles / sweepstakes, etc so, it's a donation.

been a life member of RMEF for 6 years ( I think,without going to look at the plaque) I have a lot of fun and enjoy going to the banquets.
we go to multiple states, 5 to 10 banquets a year. SO RMEF gets all my conservation money.
