Man, I avoided Holosuns for years. Finally put one on a Benelli SBE3 turkey gun and have been thrilled with it.

Ruger 22/45 lite is what you're looking for. I'd upgrade the trigger. I also wouldn't bother with sub-sonic ammo. High velocity rounds generally won't go super sonic in a pistol length barrel.

Mine, for example, sounds like someone shooting a staple gun with standard ammo.

The MKIV 22/45 is such a great training platform for new shooters. The MK series have a ton of aftermarket support to build your pistol however you want. Ammo is cheap and they are not picky. And they are extremely accurate. This is my favorite pistol to shoot. It always goes to the range with me.

What trigger, dot sight, and target distance?

The trigger is a Tandemkross Victory with the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit. The red dot is a Holosun HS507 Comp. The targets are 1” dots and 10 shots each dot. Distance is 10yards.

My S&W kit gun wants to be a suppressed semi-auto topped with a micro red dot sight when it grows up.
