Whatever happened to..?

I started this one genuinely curious to what’s happened to some of the old forum contributors. I totally understand people getting tired of it and bolting.

That said- what I don’t get, and wish would happen is all the thin skinned crybaby little bitches that frequently push the “my hurt feelings” button - yet don’t just disappear?
You forgot the pillow reference.

I wish @u1299 was still around so he could see that Gomer is hunting harder.

I wish On Point was around to provide recent examples of how a grown man can make it all the way to retirement as an emotional infant. Guy was unhinged, but great entertainment. I do worry a bit about his mental health and how it relates to the safety of those around him.

If Jonas, wllm, and mtmuley ever leave, I’m out.
One down, two to go.

Where is dirtclodAZ and his roadrunners?

I still miss OnPoint. Hope him and his liver are alright.

I admit I’ve been contemplating abandoning the forum all together. I think the reason I find it less and less valuable is two-fold.

1. There are very few hunting threads anymore, or fun threads. And even innocuous subjects or people sharing their hunts rapidly devolve into politics, snark, personal attacks and ridicule.

2. A larger and larger proportion of members seem to be unable to participate in virtually any discussion at all without belittling, name-calling and ridiculing. When it feels like a large chunk of the membership is here just to troll and tear others down, what’s the point? This forum used to make me laugh and feel like a bunch of friends ribbing each other and cutting up. Now more often than not I just close the browser because the overall tone of so many threads just feels mean-spirited and confrontational. Not the vibe it used to have, and not one I really enjoy participating in anymore.
I'm probably in the minority, but I like the political posts/threads, up to a point. This has always been a good place to hear intelligent, articular arguments for most political perspectives. I know I believe Citizens United was the worst decision of my generation, but VG didn't and was very passionate and articulate about his stance. He didn't change my opinion, but I appreciated the dialogue.

But there is a point, and that point for me is when someone can't defend their stance with an intelligent argument or recognition of a valid counterargument, and defaults to name-calling and bashing people and opposing opinions...

If it gets bad and I just get too irritated, I'll leave on my own accord, even if it's only for a break...

Does this really happen? 🤔 mtmuley

Took a year off HT to really give it a go as an international touring belly dancer. We only get one life to live our dreams. Didn’t work out.

Lucky you showed up when you did. I was about to tell them that you got put in that hole from Joe Dirt, and that I occasionally use a rope to lower down lotion and autotrader magazines for you.

I agree. Like you said to a point, there's always the guys on both ends of the spectrum, who if their party leader told them to jump off a cliff, they would. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet.
