I know some of you guys have put a lot of thought and research into this.

If the cost wasn’t a consideration at all, what would be your ultimate 1,000 yard target rifle? The rifle build, chambering, cartridge, bullet, etc.

Basically, your ideal rifle build for punching paper with ultimate accuracy at long distances.

I built one two years ago and loved it:

Tikka action, Benchmark M24 26" barrel, threaded for suppressor, 6.5 Creedmoor shooting 143gr Hornady ELDM's. That rifle hammered.

1000 yd paper punching is a pretty mature competition space (1000 yd benchrest) and the latest nationals equipment list I saw shows 6 BRA as the most popular option with 6 Dasher a close second. Berger and Vapor Trail bullets are both well represented.

PRS competition I'm much more personally familiar with (but fits what you asked less closely), give me my 6 Dasher and Berger 109's. Nationally the Berger 105 might be slightly more popular, but I think the 109's have a razors width of advantage in the west.

Custom action. Kelby or something of the like.
32" barrel 1.25" full length plus muzzle brake.
Probably a laminated stock 3" forestock, flat bottom.
7mm Rem Mag shooting either the 195gr Berger EOL or the 197gr Sierra MatchKing.
Scope I already have. Sightron SIII 10-50X60 LRTD with 1/8" clicks.

Weight estimate in the 17lb range.

25-284, 1:7tw, heavy varmint profile barrel, Mausingfield action, Manners MCS-PRS1, Timney HIT, Wyatt’s M5.

Would use it to shoot the 138 A-Tips

@p_ham what would that run?

7PRCW
Lone Peak Fuzion or Impact 737R
Bix n Andy
Foundation Genesis II
Bartlein HV 1:8
180 Berger Hybrids
Nightforce or Sightron for the glass.

Probably the most fun long range rig I have shot was a Sako TRG .338 Lapua topped with a Schmidt & Bender. It was awesome.

The 6br family is so much easier, and fun than the long action cartridges.
