What do you want to be when you grow up?

I always find these discussions interesting.

I always have chased my dreams, taken risks, etc... so I have no regrets, and don't have to wonder what if I had done x instead.

But as far as fun going broke with a farm or ranch looks like fun and would be a place to hunt without all the rifraf on public.

Talking with my 14 year old step son tonight about if he has any idea what he wants to do...he doesn't. Got me thinking if any of you could go back in time and pick a different career or the same one what would it be and why?

Here comes the porn star jokes...
Told my apprentice the other day if this doesn’t work out for him he could always do porn, but he may not like which end of things he is on🤷‍♂️

I’m not so sure I’d change what I do for a living but maybe where I do it. I really don’t like where I live and work but it’s really hard to imagine leaving everything behind and trying to start again.

Same I don't know how it pays probably not well. I run heavy Equipment but I always liked the idea of doing it for the forest service or something like that maintaining mountain roads and bridges etc would be a sweet gig.

l love being a welder, l really wish l had gotten into it right out of high school, l would be way better off now.
lf l could turn back the clock though l wish l had gone to school to be a game biologist or an outfitter, l always loved guiding and wish l had pursued it harder instead of being talked out of it.

Some sort of delivery job. I did it as a side job in college and loved it.

At least a dozen times a week I think about quitting my white collar job and applying at UPS/USPS.
lf you don't mind my asking, why is that...

A lot of people would be surprised at what UPS, Fed Ex, and Postal Workers make. It’s not terribly hard to clear 6 figures in those jobs after you work your way up a little and get some time in.

This is a tough one…

I have been in law enforcement for 26 years. It has been an adventure but there are definite draw backs.

If I could do it all over, I would try to get into the deep submersion unit or EOD in the Navy. I love the ocean and think doing the deep water exploration would have been a great adventure.

However, I am a very lucky man. I have a beautiful wife, an awesome son and can retire in about 4 years. I live comfortably and have way more than I deserve.

At age 47, I just left a job I'd had for 14 years and switched to something very different. So far, so good, but I guess the point is that switching is not impossible. It's actually worked out pretty well for me.
I'm torn about how I'd do things again. I spent a long time working seasonally, having a bunch of freedom and not much money. Some days I think that was smart, some days I kick myself...
