Having finally arrived home from a business trip from Austin, I won't be travelling to the states anytime soon now. Being denied my Nexus Status while being questioned long enough for me to miss my flight has pissed me off. I was questioned for 3 hours my colleague who is Puerto Rican was questioned for 4 hours. No wonder tourism has taken a big blow lately

I've never had any problem getting into Canada...I got more crap from the US side, trying to get back in.

I travel to Canada through I-falls three times a year and find this to be true.

This is usually correct. They have got to be more concerned now that Canada is trying to let in most of the middle east. It is what it is and now we have a president that is enforcing our borders again.

I seriously doubt that tourism is going to suffer from this. The sky is definitely falling again-how many times can this happen!

They didn't pull it they just wouldn't accept it. They've been doing it to a few people now. When I contacted our border service they said everything was fine

I'm definitely not a fan of our customs guys here in the US. back in '06 I was in the USMC but working at a US Embassy overseas. I came back to VA for a meeting and hadn't made a hotel reservation in advance. The customs guys gave me a hard time despite my military ID and US diplomatic passport. They would not let me go until I provided an address for where I would be staying. Sense when is it any of their damn business where a US citizen stays in the country? I finally made up an address and the jack-wad was happy (but never verified it).

Maybe...but he didn't leave me a choice. I knew the town I was headed to, but didn't have a hotel reservation yet. This was before smart phones, so I couldn't just look one up on the spot.
