It ain't exactly free because we citizens end up paying for it. But many, many, illegal children are educated through our public schools. They can even get free college if they know who to ask.

Last time I checked a border is a border. It shouldn't matter which one it is they should have exactly the same practice anywhere there is a crossing. If you think the Canadian border isn't an issue also then I'm not so sure I can help in this discussion.

Got totally torn apart in Vancuver off the ferry.
Packed Powerwagon CA plates w/15'Norvenia on trailer everything for hunting & fishing for 3 guys. We had CA plates following the Venice beach gay jocks in a convertable Beemer with disco music blasting and when those border folks opened the cooler sitting behind them the guy said looky here and held up a big bag of coke ,like 20lbs big. Idiots from CA.
We were next...lol They had our stuff all out in the port entry area.Took us an hour to repack the rig. They did get their panties in a bunch with our rifles ,thinking where's the pistols & shotguns?
Worth it.I spent 2 mo's hunting & fishing with friends who were lighthousekeepers at the Bamfield Light Station on west coast of Vancuver Island. Only access is by small boat into cove or helo.20 clicks from fishing village of Bamfield. Amazing place. Like Nat.Geo pic amazing. I caught a 56lb chinook that trip.
Came across the border with 600lbs extra weight in frozen salmon & halibut a bear & 2 blacktails.
US customs guy gave us the stink eye as another walked around and he grabbed my little pack of Cuban cigars off the dash & said go on get out of here .
They didn't find the 6 cedar boxes of Havanas we had hidden in the secret bed compartment. LOL Sonny was a Special Forces Vet . His rig. I know there was a pistol hidden too and I never found the spot.

I refuse to visit Canada over this very issue.
I got a DUI about 30 years ago. Took the family over to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side just shy of 20 years ago and had no problem. Flew into Vancouver to board a cruise 4 years ago, again, no problem. Maybe I got luck, but I've heard about this.

Last time my two hunting partners and I flew back from Alaska (private plane) we tried to clear customs at Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. We were told no one there and to go to Boundary Bay. Called in, told to land and wait for a customs agent from the freeway to come. After 2 hours waiting in the cabin and no show, we went into the terminal. The guy finally shows up after another hour probably end of shift). He was a crusty old Scot sent over for his sparkling repartee. It began with, "What the f*ck you doing out of the plane", you're supposed to stay in the f*cking plane until an agent checks you". Told him we had waited for a couple of hours onboard until the urge to piss became over whelming (our bottles were full). Asked the gent if we should have stood on the wing and pissed on the tarmac! He finally calmed down and all went well. Usual questions on hand guns and he checked our sheep horns and export papers from AK. That was that. The folks we saw on entry were nice as could be. So I think it has a lot to do with the crews on both sides, some are O.K., others are badge happy. FWIW. GJ

I've heard that Canada is very leery of letting Americans in to work. They don't let you in if they find out you are staying there for couple months working. I've actually heard that you are better off saying that you are there just visiting.

This is usually correct. They have got to be more concerned now that Canada is trying to let in most of the middle east. It is what it is and now we have a president that is enforcing our borders again.
I seriously doubt that tourism is going to suffer from this. The sky is definitely falling again-how many times can this happen!
Tequila, Rainer, you snowflakes have got to suck it up and realize at some point that your man/woman lost the race to the "man child".
