He was perched up in the shadows of the mountain high above a huge scree slide. There was no access to the goat. We're not sure if it was him or another goat. My thoughts were the other 3 were down below us where we couldn't get to. But at the same time goats don't go down. We spent the next few hours glassing hoping something would show itself again. I figured since we hadn't pushed them hard, we'd head back to camp and hunt behind camp and let them settle down.
We hunted behind camp without seeing anything. It was a long cold night again. We had made some mods to camp. We moved the fire closer and strung up our rain gear on the sides to help break the wind. I also slept in my pants and puffy jacket. The next morning we went back to our glassing spot and spent most of the day there with hopes of seeing goats again.
The afternoon came around. Morale was low. We could tough it out for the next few days and hope they move back in to the area (which was my idea, have a relaxing camping trip with cold nights... maybe make a trip back to the truck and grab the tent and my sleeping bag), or we could make a run 3 hours down the road to Terrace and check out some general open season spots I knew of. Then come back and check out the same spot in a couple days.
Terrace was the answer, after all it was Cavan's trip. So late that afternoon we broke camp and headed to the truck.
