Unpopular Opinion on Brisket

After watching countless YouTube videos and reading bbq blogs the last few years I've smoked a handful of Briskets (all prime from costco) and I dont know what all the fuss is about. It's never been inedible but people always act blown away by brisket and I've yet to have one to really make it something that's all that special. I thought maybe I need to try real brisket from a pro to really appreciate what others get out of it, so I've tried a few local spots that have won awards for their brisket and even though it was better than mine it still wasn't anything special.

Not meaning to ruffle feathers but I wonder if I'm the only one that doesn't get the hype?

On a side note, I made some burnt ends with a couple and those were excellent.

It's over rated a little in my opinion as well. And yes I've had it from just about everywhere. Don't get me wrong it's still good. Beef ribs though...10x better than brisket.
And there’s nothing that looks better on the smoker either, it’s like the dinosaur ribs on the flintstones 😂

It sounds like you suffer from the same disorder as all of my former flames, a case of way too high expectations.

Just had some killer brisket this week, when its good, its real good! But I have had plenty that were just so-so especially from restaurants. I wouldn't completely discount it, but be prepared to have plenty that are just kinda meh.

When it's good, it's good. When it's not, it's still OK. I'll smoke up what I have in the freezer and then I'm done. Love a hot sandwich topped with Provolone.
