It would not go over seas if prices made it more attractive to keep it here. It was to be exported because at the time we did not need it, now we do. It is a commodity, thing change with demands. Again, it is terrible we don't use it instead of asking Arabs and a dictator in Venezuela for oil.

I think currently a lot of that oil is trained down, to US or goes through existing lines I think Alberta could up production... I feel like I remember reading Conoco had the largest position but it's been a while since I read much on the tar sands.

@406dn any thoughts, also it's the Canadian process more 'mining' than drilling?

It is a commodity, and one that brings far higher prices elsewhere than the US, which is why the Oil industry was specifically pushing the US to allow for exportation of oil.

The industry doesn't give two chits about the Ukraine or US oil production. They care about keeping the cash flowing, and that's it.

I've seen similar on other sites I visit. Let's just say those sights are fairly peppered with masculinity of the toxic and compensatory type.

Has the list of possible outcomes changed in anyone's mind? I feel more and more like the EU/Nato or even just one of those countries independently has to get involved.

To an earlier point, I don’t see that site being pro-Russian 10 years ago. The Russian army may be a mess, but it’s propagandists have done a “great” job in the west over the last decade.

I don’t see anybody engaging militarily without clear commitment from the US to be their backstop. A promise that is unlikely.

Both Biden and Trump were alive during the 2nd red scare, and in their 40s when the wall fell (only meaning look our recent those events are all things considered)... I think "great" job barely does it justice.

Of course Gallup polls in 1940 showed that 32% of Americans felt that giving Czechoslovakia to Germany was worth it to end the war, and 25% said giving Poland to Germany was OK.

And let’s not forget the “Friends of a New Germany” campaign in 1933-1936 and “German American Bund” 1936-1940. A fair share of Americans praised the Nazis at the time. I would guess few admitted to this come 1946.
