Turtle Snack

Did some fishing in the north of the country this weekend in crocodile country.
Not my picture BUT One of the locals was captured snacking out on the beach. This a proper one - all of 16ft and king of his realm - Definitely no swimming here.

Someday I hope to go to Australia, if I do I certainly won't be swimming. Yikes!

YES definitely. I was asked by a Canadian where he should swim when he travels north - my reply was the motel swimming pool. Even though they call them an Estuarine Crocodile (saltwater) they thrive in the fresh water. There are some HUGE crocs in the fresh water lagoons living mainly on hogs, wallabies and the odd cow.
In this part there’s also a little clear jelly fish called a ”box jellyfish” NASTY DEADLY. a big one is the size of a mans fist but they seen one today about the size of a golf ball. Clear to translucent head and spends majority of it’s time in the shallows.

For reference what about is that turtles shell circumference approximately?

I’d guess about 3 foot long and 2 and a bit foot across - most of the turtles that feed here are about that big. The croc would have a head length (snout to start of body) about 4 foot long

Amazing, one of my dreams is to visit Australia but will surely stay out of the water lol

Swimming in the southern waters is OK - no crocs south - the sharks ate them all
