Yeah, 200 is too much. Don't most barrels have it stamped?I thought max was 150 on Pyrodex?
I think some might. Gotta kick like a motherphugger!!Yeah, 200 is too much. Don't most barrels have it stamped?
It wasn't bad honestlyI think some might. Gotta kick like a motherphugger!!
Most older muzzleloaders are max at 100 grains. 150 was considered a magnum and would have been marked. You are bordering on a face replacement surgery messing around like this. Back it down before you get that Darwin Award.I just checked mine isnt stamped probably should've checked. 150 is it's happy place. Was using the 50gr pellets.
Thanks for the concern I truly appreciate it. I found the owners manual and 150gr is good to go.Back it down before you get that Darwin Award.
When i use the side hammer 95 seems to be what makes it happy. That is loose powder and patch and ball. 100 with that 300gr bullet was shooting super inconsistent for me. I wish it would've worked better. I have some 250gr bullets i am going to try and see if they like the 100gr powder.I never needed more than 100 for deer. Kicks less and you get more loads out of a package of pellets.
I'm guessing this was more the issue and also my inconsistent results at other powder charges. Also, what twist is the barrel? It might be too slow to stabilize a 300gr projectile.
