My hope is to have my 338-06 back soon after Christmas. I have never used the TTSX bullet and am wondering what one you recommend. The 210gr at 2700fps or the 185gr at 2900. The goal will be to deer and maybe elk and moose with the rifle. 400 yards would be the max distance on elk and moose and 200 yards for deer hunting here in WI.

If your rifle shoots one better than the other, I would go with the one most accurate. If both shoot well, then go with the 185 gr. My 338-06 shoots them both well, and I shoot the 185's.

I went with the 210s for elk in my .338-06 but I think you'd be about as well served with the 185s on elk/deer. I'd personally want the 210s for moose, though. Energy and retained velocity are going to be pretty comparable at normal hunting ranges:

Whats the minimum impact velocity on those two? I do think coppers gotta have some speed to it to expand. If you know the minimum velocity, use a ballistic calculator to make sure at the muzze velocity you have you'll still be over the fps you need at 400 yards. If you are, I vote bigger because you'll get better. B.C. of the bullet, wind will affect it less and you'll have that much more penetration/sectional density.

Edit:just seen someone already did the ballistic calculator. They're only 100fps different at 400. I personally would shoot the heavier ones if they shoot good out of my gun. Especially since you mentioned moose.

Why not look at the 160 TTSX at 3200, at 400 yds and under BC really doesn't mean a hill of beans different.

This is good advice. 150 grains in 30 caliber and 110 grains in 270 have dumped some elk for me
