They have multiple. Same thing with the beast and secret service support vehicles and everything else. Multiple sets and usually multiple on each location so that it is harder to narrow down which he is in. They load them up and fly them all to location in a c-17 before the president gets there.
 
Site visits would sometimes start as far as two weeks out but depending on location, essentially how big a SS office is in the area a week is typically enough time to set things up. Fly the vehicles and choppers out, disperse as needed, advance team is working with the locals, I would imagine some protocols have changed since I retired. LAPD has a long history of protecting high value dignitaries, I imagine things will go smoothly, at least as far as the protection detail is concerned. Trump vs Newsome, well that’s a different story.

The bullchit shutdowns cost far more money than they save. Won’t even start. Political posturing.

I personally know of two highly qualified people that signed offer letters that have had their jobs revoked because the start date was after 2/8.

DOGE folks are costing the government more money than they are trying to save.

Watched that unfold on TV. Told my wife “this is not the way we used to do it. I was explaining what I saw wrong when Trump got hit. Kinda what I meant by protocols changing. Butler was a shit show basically boiled down to arrogance within the advance team and a lack of dignitary protection training with the locals. Not being on the same net or immediate access to local radio was inexcusable.
Generally speaking democrates were more challenging than republicans to deal with. Imagine shutting down rush hour traffic for 20 miles because potus needs to move from one location to another. Troopers start shutting down the ramps a little before 1700, moving from the start to the ending location. Motorcade starts moving following a phalanx of motors. That’s the plan. Piece of cake. Except when it’s not. So traffic gets shut down all the way and the Clintons have not even made it to the motorcade. Citizens are getting grumpy, gridlock in snares the city. Mayor calls the governor who checks with assistants who promise they will be moving any minute. Super of the state patrol gets involved. People are getting crazy. Happened every time. Both H. W. And G.W. Were great. they understood the impact they had when they visited a city. They were always ready to move when it was time.
