These were all taken in Colorado. I hunt other states every year but have yet to kill a 30" buck anywhere but good old Colorado. I got greedy last fall and actuallly passed up two bucks that were over 30" wide. I was hoping to find one that would net 190 plus.
When you can kill 4 or 5 30" deer in a lifetime like deerking and cowkiller your pretty impressive. Mine was probably more luck then skill, although I do hunt hard. I would like to see some of them, guys.
I havn't seen a live 30" deer in my years of hunting.
Last year my brother in law bumbled into an old buck that measured just shy of 30" but he was only a 3x3, but massive to the top. He looked to be past his prime.
I saw one in Utah, 86, last day of deer season, ten min. till dark. The thing was across a cannyon at about 1200 yds. No time to make a stalk so we just watched it. Four different hunters gessed it at 34" 5X5. Would have made the book if .......
