brought all the traps in on last check and this little guy was in the same trap I caught the coss fox in. Same catch and release occurred. I gave him a chunk of meat from close by marten set and he ate it while he was free. He was chewing while I pulled my trap.

Ok, tell us how you release a badger. Any stories about releasing mountain lions would be welcome, too.

I use a catch pole most of the time. I also have a washtub in my pickup I'll use for the smaller animals like swift fox, and red fox. Like mentioned earlier be careful with the catchpole on cats, they have pretty delicate windpipes. I've released lions. bobcats, coyotes, black bears, and wolves...swift fox are the most aggressive, and tenacious. I also have access to a Telezol(jab stick) if I think something has to be tranquilized to be safely released, or if I'm putting on a radio collar.

Traps all pulled. All in all it was an uneventful year. Not sure if I learned much this year. Peat moss freezes bad going to have to go back to wax dirt next winter. Hope everyone else has a great finish to your season.

2 coyotes and a fox last check. Fox was in good shape which is surprising. One coyote ok one was real nice but of course ravens got on him. Start pulling next check

Any day with a coyote in a trap is a good day.
This was my first time catching something with this specific type of trap.

Pulled the line yesterday and picked up another coyote and a fox. Ended up with 17 coyotes and 7 fox off that bait. Was a pretty busy spot

Final day of bobcat season today and got a buzzer beater!!!!

Finally broke 80 animals since Jan 1.
We will hit it hard until March 31, then take a little break until turkey season is over!

Yikes. Except for Bobcat and Fisher, looks like most others took a haircut. The future trapper in me is rooting for an uptick, the current bird hunter in me is really rooting for it.

Going to need the Russia/Ukraine stuff to stop for an uptick in prices I think

Yeah, that's sad. 45 years ago I was getting $20 for a ROADKILL coon! I never skinned out anything, either.
