Trapping Thread 2024/2025

I’m not gonna lie. I might call MDC to come look before I shoot. Dogs are pretty protected here and I am not smart enough to know what this is. Parts say coyote. Others have me confused.

I’ve called more neighbors than you can imagine, but now I’m in my head. Everyone says they don’t have a dog, aren’t missing one, or know anyone who had one.

That's a coyote.
If you follow trapping forums they come in a wide array of color phases and body shapes even vary a bit location to location.

The whole "coydog" thing is largely B.S.

During my short time with the ODWC I know of one confirmed and at-least 2 others expected but not tested. So definitely rare but absolutely happens. The color phase is absolutely a possibility seems they're decently common in certain areas and almost completely absent from others. I've caught and killed hundreds of coyotes in Oklahoma and seen hundreds more never one color phase.

Sets dog proofs in the woods to keep them away from the foot holds….
Find them in the foot holds. 😂

Calendar year total:
Raccoons: 20
Possums: 14
Muskrats: 7
Beaver: 6
Otter: 1
Bobcat: 1
Coyote: 1
Skunk: 1
Armadillos: 2
Overall: 53

Bobcat, muskrat, and otter all go out Feb 28th.

Raccoon, possum, and coyote ends the 28th on public, but I have until April 14th on private for them all. So I’ll hammer everything until April 1st and then let it settle for turkey!
