Hunt Talk Radio - Look for it on your favorite Podcast platform

Timeout Time

It boggles my mind that anyone actually uses the "Report" button...the skin must be major thin
I'll fall on the sword as I've stated this before anyway...

I like to read the forum on my phone, at home, oftentimes while my kids are around. In my house we don't curse or watch lewd/crude content. Occasionally some of the stuff here pushes the limits of what I'd be comfortable with my kids seeing over my shoulder or seeing me read. It's not necessary for a hunting forum, and if it's too far I'll report it. Obviously not everything as I know I'm an anomaly And don't expect others to abide by my rules. But as they say, I know it (too far) when I see it.

I mean let’s call a spade a spade here. Greenhorns humor is pure entertainment. If you have to push the “report” button over him then just ignore him or stop being a b*tch. The guy has been around forever and is actually a really good guy. Not to mention the fact that his hunting abilities are probably towards the top as well. People are soft…

However! I will report @OntarioHunter post when he recommends burning your shit. That’s horrible advice and no one needs to think that’s a good idea!

Agreed. Ignore annoying, report inappropriate
Inappropriate is up to the judgement of an individual. Some may think so, some not. I've never hit the report button and never will. I have also had some "disputes" shall we say, handled by myself and the other member through PM's. Will continue that way. mtmuley

Grown men getting "triggered" and setting off the report button....Kind of mind blowing to me. I better make sure my kids don't turn into snowflakes.
Snowflakes are all unique and a beautiful creation. When they get together they change the landscape and sometimes create havoc. It sure would be a shame if a kid tuned out that way.

Yep, and I use my best judgement here as in everywhere else in my life. As you insinuate, you certainly don't have to agree with me. I've never reported because my feelings were hurt or I was offended or whatever. I've reported when I felt like this public, not age restricted in any way, hunting forum was worse off for the post. You know, like when someone posts a picture of a random stranger undressing in the woods somewhere taken through a spotting scope.

My personal measure of my manly toughness 🙄 isn't reliant upon whether or not I've ever reported a post on HT.

I can confirm I’ve been reported once and a thread was locked that member had the stones to say he reported it. I got some jabs in before the lock
Pretty sure that was the Bozeman thread. That one went 0 to 100 real fast!

I can start with the tinfoil hat wearing member.
As an admin I don’t have any function to throttle a member’s post abilities or create a labor intensive process just to enjoy the forum.

I’d advise said member to reach out to us behind the scenes and see if we can put someone technical on it to help troubleshoot it.

I’ve seen cases where certain networks have their own hurdles to get through.

My best example would be someone posting on let’s say a DoD computer. They might have certain pages blocked, certain functions or buttons disabled, or some form of “wall” that prevents them from enjoying all of the sites functions.
Other companies implement their own “hurdles”.

I’ve also seen people have issues when it comes to weak networks, think super rural or out in the mountains type networks. For some reasons we’ve seen degraded operations for them because of that reason.

So in short - for that specific piece of your question…. we don’t have the capability to throttle or degrade people.

Now for part II….
I’ll let you grab your pitchforks while I type it out.
You can put me in the tinfoil hat category. I have made comments that I probably shouldn’t have on Randy’s site even if they are true. Shortly after I would say I was limited to where it was impossible to navigate or post without a lot of effort. Both times Randy has looked into it I get full access again.

I’d put my phone away if I was so concerned about what my kids are reading over my shoulder. Seems like doing something with the kids is more important than cruising the internet regardless of the website
Go ahead, no one stopping you.

I'm self employed and work from home. I'd venture I spend as much, if not more, time doing things with my kids as most guys. I won't apologize for browsing HT occasionally while they're around lol.

I know it’s not worth much, but I’ll always be as transparent as I can be while I’m here. (Don’t worry I’m sure I’ll get fired soon)
I just don’t see any functions that would cause that to happen and I should have full access to everything.

When this happened were your pages loading slow and just not showing up? I guess lagging is the best way to describe it? Or were you experiencing other issues. I’m not super techy, but if it happens again let me know and I can try to help…..

i could've swore it was because of his blasphemous thoughts on Nordic's quality of pizza. i was tempted to hit report on that one.
