Fort Stevens. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Fort+Stevens+State+Park/@46.1888386,-123.9747236,14.72z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x549365e7b416899f:0xe6d2b271686f4771!8m2!3d46.1888553!4d-123.976136!16s/g/1n3dw4ynx?entry=ttu.

Go a little farther west to
Netarts Bay, Ocean Side, and Cape Meares Lighthouse.
If you are into driving the dunes. Sand Lake can be pretty crazy on the weekends especially if the weather is nice.

Southward a bit, Depot Bay is the smallest navigable harbor in the world. The brewery there has good beer, and the best clam chowder on the coast. But Rockaway to the north is hard to beat.

Also, Fort Stevens - the Union was afraid the Brits would sail up the Columbia in support of the CSA, so forts on both sides of the river were built. At low tide of the war for the North, serious consideration was given to moving the government to the northwest.

Lots of great suggestions already. Ecola State Park, just north of Cannon Beach, has a beautiful hike along coastal cliffs...if you do it, park on the south end of the park and hike the coastal trail to Indian Beach and back, about 2 miles round trip.

If you are serious, I'm sure I could arrange.
We will only be in tillamook Friday afternoon until Sunday. I’m sure my son would love it but I know how pressed for time all farmers this time of year so I’d hate to inconvenience him for a short visit. Thank you for the offer though.

For a few food recommendations, if you don’t eat too many ice cream cones at the tillamook dairy, then skip the Tillamook Dennys and Fred Meyer deli, and go north a few minutes to grab a bite at The Fish Peddler at Pacific Oyster. https://www.pacificseafood.com/contact-us/retail-locations/bay-city-fish-peddler/

A bit farther on, there’s Crab Rock Pizza, and Garibaldi Portside Bistro. https://www.crabrockpizza.com/

Could also just buy a bunch of cheese and wine at the Blue Heron in Tillamook, maybe some smoked beef snacks at the tillamook factory outlet. Dont forget to have some fiber with all that cheese and sodium though, or it’ll be a long drive home.

A good time of year to visit. Have fun.

There are some whales moving along the coast. My wife and I were in Depoe bay earlier this week and the DNR guys at the education center at the entrance to the harbor said they had just seen a couple of whales about a half mile out from the shore.
