Thoughts on a couple 300s

Looking at doing a all around load for a couple 300s that I have.
First is a Remington 673 in 300 SAUM, second a Weathermark in 300 Weatherby.
The SAUM shoots a 168 TSX very well, 3/4”.
The Weatherby, a 180 TSX at 7/8”.
Listed loads show the SAUM at 3010 with a 24” barrel, so around 2800 fps with the 22”.
Weatherby listed at 3000 with a 24”, so around 3200 with the 26”.
Given the math, is there any real world difference? Am I being too OCD?
The 673 is by far the best handling rifle I’ve ever owned. Compact, points like a shotgun. Weighs about a pound less than the Weathermark.
Looking for one rifle to grab and go for deer, black bear and elk.
Not looking to debate the rounds. Have a few others.
Opinions, work up a couple hundred rounds and enjoy life with the 300 SAUM?

Also, I think you’re being overly ambitious in your velocity estimates based on 1 inch of barrel length change.

Agreed. No difference and in general, I've only found velocity to go down 25-50 fps per inch of barrel.

Agreed with the posts above, but if you want to chase speed (and have the twist for it) get some Hammers.

The 166 would zip along pretty good in the SAUM. mtmuley

Not chasing speed, just using it for comparison.
So far very happy with the TSX bullets.
Mainly looking for conformation that the 300 SAUM will do what I need it to do.
Speeds were to compare two rifles.

A 168 Barnes at 3000fps is going to do pretty much anything you need it to do.

A couple hundred fps with 12 more grains. Is that little bit worth dragging the extra length and weight?

The animal won't be able to tell the difference either.

The answer is probably a no, there's no real huge magical difference. Pick the SAUM and hunt anything you want.
