Most folks made some connection to Montana through a ski trip or National Park visit or a fishing or hunter experience.

Maybe the Movie or the Show sparked the desire to visit, but it was their experience in MT that brought them back.

I have still only driven through Bozeman and have never stopped. Probably 4-6 times a year since 2017. One of these years I'll have to check it out.

I wonder if Taylor Sheridan gets the cognitive dissonance, that his characters, from 1923 and Yellowstone, at least, are supporters of traditional land use, yet by romanticizing Montana he has led to many of the changes they decry.

Supposedly Redford felt guilt about making A River Runs Through It when he saw the changes it wrought.

The movie really did have a huge impact.

I don't know you family situation, but there is no greater gift that helping your Dad do something he no longer can, being the "fun" uncle to your nieces and nephews, and giving your kids the opportunity to really know and love their grandparents.

wise words right there, we have done the same: it's all fun and games until you want to go fishing (or insert favorite thing to do) with your 25 yr old son or daughter or grandson or other family member but the fact that you're 2,400 miles away makes it impossible. Precious time together turns into a week or two of catching up from the past 6-10 months apart instead of living life together.
after 6+ yrs away we moved back to be closer to the kids and other family/friends and it is the one thing I will never regret, the hole in my heart is now filled!
