I got a Ruger #1 stainless laminate in 22-250 a while back. I love it! I like it so much that the thought of the same rifle in 6.5 Squeezemoor became almost an obsession. I couldn't find one because Ruger never made one. I talked to p ham about building a barrel for mine but that was way more than I wanted to spend on my obsession. Next thought is find another 22-250. Not easy but possible. I talked to p ham again about boring and rechambering. He referred me to a gunsmith in Oregon. $400-450 bucks is doable if I can pickup another rifle reasonable. I found one. So far it's affordable, Monday will tell. I feel like a kid waiting for Xmas.

I like the laminate stocks a lot also. Stout as a steel beam and attractive.

I’m not telling how many I have now. Next will probably be a 450/400 or a 416 Rigby. My first criteria is the wood. I’m pretty well set up to 375, could actually justify a 35 Whelen come to think of it. My favorite is my 275 Rigby, or perhaps the 300 HH but really the 375 is pretty nice.

Wayne York is a top-notch gun smith. Slow as molasses but very very busy. I have one of his stocks on one of my Jarretts. I know he and his son are #1 fans but I’ve never put one of his stocks on a #1. Talked to folks who have or seen theirs shoot. He knows his way around #1s as well. P-ham is still my go to guy even though Wayne is just over the hill from me. But for re-boring you are on the right track, only a few guys in the country doing that work. I know he has a few proprietary cartridges, 25 York comes to mind. If you want a 6.5 he might have something more interesting than a man-bun. If you’re going that route you might think about replacing the trigger as well.

I see the jealousy rear it's head! It makes me giggle when I hear the man bun phrase. The lowly 6.5 Squeezemoor is a great all around for me. It will load light and heavy depending on the animal de-jour. It also is very economical and doesn't destroy my already destroyed 72 year old shoulder. SO,,,,,,, interesting I don't need. Functional and affordable is much more gooder!
