The things we did, for a cow elk.

My buddy and I bagged one elk in unit 61 on Monday morning. It was Jarrods shot but a team effort. And effort it was, we saw lots of elk but they were always in the bottom of hellholes or on their way there. So we did what we had to do, go to the bottom, shoot one, and have a hellish packout through the oakbrush. After finishing with one elk I decided my 60 year old body was not up to doing that again. So I came home, it was a great hunt and a fun time, I can still do the nasty packout but just barely.

On the secnd trip we fund a better way up and out.

Awesome. I can relate. I don't think I saw an elk in that unit that wouldn't have been alot of work to get out.

Fred, Looks like a lot of work, but a good story to tell. Thanks for the call and report the other day. Hope to have equal success 4th season, and an easier packout!! Lonnie

2, I am out of the big time points game. I drew a second season bull tag in 61 a few years ago and tagged a nice bull. Now I hunt it for a cow when I can and hunt others units when I don’t.

Couldn't have asked for better weather for that hump out, right? I was in the unit simultaneously w Phase, who is a supportive and helpful gentleman. I waved as I passed his camp (y).

I was able to avoid a grueling packout by not shooting one, but I got to wave @ some before I was called home early.

I was lucky enough to draw a muzzleloader cow tag for unit 61 Any info on any spots that would be good hunting. Without messing someone else’s hunt up that’s hunting a bull. I would feel bad to go after cows and mess someone else’s bull hunt up. Thanks
