The Elk Hunters Wife

I didn't hunt when I met Hunting Husband. 20-something years later, I think I'm more nuts about hunting than he is (I think he would agree). So I guess it's only fair to shout out to those elk hunter’s husbands who get possibly more excited about their wife’s tags than their own and are first in line to celebrate, congratulate, and help pack out quarters.

Never would have guessed all those years ago that someday I'd draw a sweet tag and he'd be helping me pack out an elk.

This is so true. My wife drew a limited entry archery elk tag this year and she has been practicing her butt off. Last year was her first ever elk hunt and when she had a bull rip off a bugle in her face from 7 yards away, it was all over...she is hooked. Of course she only had a cow tag at the time, but she is looking to get that chance again this year. We hit the road in two weeks. To say we are excited is an understatement.

Take her with and show her. When I first got together with my wife she wasn’t a hunter. Now she gets pretty excited for the season.

Yeah mine too. She grew up in New Jersey. Now she's more blood thirsty than I am come elk season!
