Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

777 is much dirtier than BH209 but it's also far cheaper and can be found anywhere.
I hear how much cleaner BH209 is but that really hasn't been my experience. I still cleaned my ML after every range session, and if I didn't swab every few shots, it got really hard to load, even with BH209. So, practically speaking, not all that much different for me than 777, and I can spit patch with 777 between shots and never have to struggle to load a bullet.

Definitely not my experience. What muzzleloader are you using? I can shoot my UML the entire deer season and then it takes me all of 5 Min to clean since the breech is sealed.

Every Knight rifle I have ever had shot BH209 without issue…when you use a bare primer breech plug. The knight rifles have always shot amazing for me.

Knight specifically says their plunger guns are not meant to run BH209. it's too hot. People were having primer shrapnel flying back into their heads.

Not an issue for me. I have talked with them several times about max loads for BH208 in their Disk Extreme and Ultra-Lite. It is safe and approved by Knight. You may have reasons to dislike Knight but their rifles can shoot BH209.

The older guns…maybe they don’t have a bare primer system that shoots 209 primers and BH209 but Knight rifles can shot BH209 without issues.

I have spoken with them several times about this. If you have an open plunger system, no dice. Mine has modified ignition for shooting 209 primers in red jackets. Absolutely verboten.

Btw - this thread is targeted towards talking someone out of one. I have many reasons to talk someone INTO them, but that wasn't the goal of the thread.

The CVA Optima V2 or above are all vastly superior weapons. The QBPR makes it simple for cleaning. They're light, durable, accurate, and not complicated in any way.

Now taking it all into perspective, the CVA Optima/Accura/etc. get humiliated by the CVA Paramount and Remington UML; however, they're significantly more expensive.

Is there any issues with moisture with the bare primer plug, without having the jacket?

Some models don't take bare primer - a lot of the old ones especially. For those guns, people can replace the traditional ignition (#11 musket caps) with jacketed 209 primer sleeves. They work great, but no 209.

CVA Optima V2. After 3 shots with BH209, if I don't at least swab the bore, it's noticeably harder to load.

Check your sabot. Some leave WAY more fouling than others. For example, the ones that Parker ships with their Ballistic Extremes will foul any gun up after 3 shots. Using Harvester crush ribs makes all the difference.

These are the 2 plugs I tried in my Knight Carbon Disc Extreme (2014 or so) I even bought a 2nd of the non-extreme and 209 still neverIMG_7941.jpeg went off.
