swan hunting

It is fun, and they are huge, beautiful birds. My wife and I shot some in `93 and my hunt lasted about 5 minutes after sitting in the blind....with just one quick shot. It took my wife 3 shots at three different groups before killing hers.
It`s fun because they come in bands, or small flocks, one after the next for hours. If you don`t kill one in this flock, wait a minute, and shoot again.

I mounted my wifes swan and it has a 7' wing span that takes up a lot of wall! Even with 10' ceilings!

You referred to NC in another thread. Are you planning on a NC swan hunt?

I shot my Tundra Swan only after I had first taken a couple NZ Black Swans.

I have a couple permits this year and hope to fill both. Deer season will dictate whether that will happen. I know folks pass shoot them, but in my opinion, nothing like decoying them. Pretty cool to see them gliding into your face.

I swan hunted for the first time last year and it was a riot. I agree with mtmiller that its more fun to have em decoy. Watching the crash landing on those big babies is awesome. I got one last year, but sadly, no tag this yr. Cant wait to do it again.
