Saturday it was branding time on my Mother In laws ranch. It is always a time for friends and neighbors to get together. You work hard, laugh and joke, the kids have to pitch in and help and then everyone gets fed like kings at the end of the day plus lots of cold beer.
We branded 420 head yesterday and still have about 200 left. I got the job of castrating the bull calves.

A busy crew is a happy crew. Notice the wreck about to happen on the left side of the pic. These guys had gotten into the beer a little too early.

Here I am helping the girls get one down.

Great pics. Looks like y'all had a blast. We've gotta get our little bull calf casterated today when my parents get home with the little tool thing. It should be fun.

You could be Bandit...
Matter of fact, there are plenty of jobs around for what you do in some good areas out West.... ;)

Did you have a nut fry?

QD,

If you're using the green cheerio to castrate make sure they don't suck them up when you put it on. Use a piece of twine to tie them to make sure they don't suck up, then put on the cheerio.

Ah for the life of working on dairy farms again......

We cleaned up the nuts last night and are going to have a nut fry next week when the last 200 head are branded.

kool pics newmont, looks great hell i love the country life:D peaceful, no assholes,no onthin but me hubby and horses dogs to:)

Chick,

So all the pics of dead animals on this site doesn't bother you but you don't like burning lil calves? It is better to get them branded, vaccinated, ear tagged, castrated and counted all at one time rather then handling them three or four times. It is not inhumane.

It may be funner to watch than one would think... :D
