Sunday Pic of the Day

A warm weekend pheasant opener was largely unproductive. Some poor shooting combined with lower populations seemed to be primary issues.

Young Dusty was trying to figure it out. His hunting buddies were running around like crazy avoiding and ignoring his attempts to play grab ass in the tall grass. But had fun beginning to figure it out.

This morning we flushed some kind of raptor out of the grass. Dusty slowly moved in trying to figure out what was so interesting to have brought that hawk down on the ground in such tall grass. This is what he found.

I wish I had paid greater attention and identified that Hawk? But I am not sure if he killed this young rooster. The corpse had a fair amount of rigor in his body and was quite cool.. On the other hand, perhaps the Hawk killed it yesterday, and he has been feeding on it off and on ever since. In any event, it was an interesting find to me.

I was sitting on an oak log just yesterday in my never ending shooting of ground squirrels. My wife came out and asked me "Don't you get bored just sitting there? You've been sitting there for hours". I said, " nope, it's relaxing." It must be an old age thing.

I told Slash we weren't gonna kill that dink, but then he saw a WA plate coming down the road. :p
