I lost my two year old Great Pyrenees a couple months ago, but life moves on. This little fella is gonna grow up and take over his job! Sunday was his first day on at our house.
Took the oldest boy out for a walk on the prairie. We walked a quarter section of ungrazed. We did plant ID. We stopped by the wing box. We did not contribute any wings. We had a blast. One of us slept on the way home.
Thirty-five years ago, after an elk-filled (but no elk on the ground) weekend of archery hunting, I was waiting to go to a college class early in the week when I thought, “What am I doing here?” Instead of going to class, I returned home, packed my pack, and hiked into this meadow to spend the rest of the week. It was a trip I will never forget. Lots of close calls but no elk were harmed.
A few weeks ago, my brother, a friend, and I returned to the meadow during a trip to spread my best friend’s ashes. It was another trip I will never forget.
