Day 2 of Oregon deer season, retrieval of a trail cam and morning hunt of the clear cut around it , I’m a mile and a half from the truck , not sure how bad I want a deer , game cart back at my truck , head lamp hike this morning, wind is good so far , I’m 400 yards from the cut waiting for the sun to join me , heard a few faint cow calls off in the distance in the cut I walked past in the dark ,
I didn’t make a 100 yds down the logging road that I wanted to hunt the edge of and see if I could catch dear slipping out of the cut and I walked into herd of elk so I’m gonna Try in a minute to loop and then work my way through the timber , so far I’ve seen three elk , a thundering herd of elk through a clear-cut will ruin this area , just herd 2 gunshots in the distance
Since the elk forced me to go into the timber Came across a old dead head 70 ft from the camera
After looping the elk and picking up our camera , I popped out of the timber and glassed a small bowl hoping to see a buck on the edge of the reprod, the elk herd is about 1000 yds or less to the left of me in this pic
Never saw a single deer in about a 4 mile loop, driving home I saw five does in yards, freaking TOWNIE deer !ha ha ha
Back home on the couch football and nap time , the only good pic off the camera we hung back in late summer a small 4 point bull
I might go out tonight for the last hour and find some place to sit
and glass a clear-cut for the last hour of daylight but really I’m questioning my motivation at this point happy Sunday everybody
Our grandson woke the other day to our first snow. He looks outside while finishing up his hot chocolate. Then in his undies he puts his jacket n boots on n heads out.
He wants to go ride his snogo. I'll bring it down to the shop where he can dry ride it. This is a picture of him giving his friend a ride.
Something about just writing this gives me the want to get out n bring him too. Couldn't help but add a bonus picture of his mama at the cabin this spring. We freighted out near a hundred gallons of gasoline for the season. If you run out before winter you have to go without as the pilot we use doesn't like gasoline in his plane.
