Home from the lake and back in the elk woods this morning, no luck on seeing elk today on our hike unless you count 3 cows on the side of the 2 lane black top in some guys yard this morning, On the way to our park point.

the purpose of today’s hike was to look for a short cut through a patch of reprod to a clear cut we like to hike to on one of our hunting loops and cut of 35-40 min b not having to walk the logging road all the way around. This pic below I took in the middle of our bush wack looking for a shortcut, ONX maps is a game changer for navigation in crap like this

Eventually we got through and to the clear cut on the backside of the reprod and an elk trail

the rain came in today all though it was light , it’s been around 50 days without it. The elk woods needed the moisture, back at the truck. It was just over 7 miles to get back.
